Athletics

The year 6 sports leaders taught us athletics in PE this week, to prepare for our 'Olympic' themed sports week next week.  Good luck everybody, I hope to see some of you in the 'sports champions' events on Friday.

A big thank you to Miss Jury and the year 6 sports leaders for organising this for us.

West Burton Visit

Today we had our annual visit to our partner school in the Yorkshire Dales, West Burton C of E Primary School.  Look at the photos to compare their school with ours.  What similarities and differences can you spot?

Yorkshire Water

As part of our Geography topic, we visited the Water Treatment Works at Headingley to discover how water is treated to make it safe for us to drink.  We also visited the Esholt Waste Water Treatment works to discover how water from the sewers is treated to make it safe to return to the environment.

Olympic Torch Relay

Well done to our class representatives, Jamie, Bob, Neve, Sophie, Isabelle, Robbie, Tom, Lucas and Arjun, who cycled all the way from school to Harewood House to be see the Olympic Torch Relay today.  Miss Saul said that you were all fantastic!

Did you see yourselves on Calendar?

Year six were also invited to the event and some of them even got to hold the torch!

That Poetry Guy

Last week, our wonderful PTA arranged for Craig Bradley, 'That Poetry Bloke', to run workshops with all of Key Stage 2.  As you can see from the photographs, we had an amazing time and look forward to using some of his ideas in our work.

Safety Rangers

Year 5 became 'Safety Rangers' after visiting Moortown Fire Station.  During the visit they were able to experience unsafe situations first hand, in a controlled and safe environment, and learn how to respond in a controlled way to those dangers. These included: fire safety, road safety, anti social behaviour and emergency planning.

Busy Half Term

What a busy time we had in the last half term!

Here are a selection of the photographs from the various activities we carried out:

We researched different places of worship and gave presentations to the rest of the class about what we found out.

After researching different types of containers, we then made our own, using clay.  Come back soon to see our painted pots.
