Naming Ceremonies

In R.E. this week we were learning about naming ceremonies in Judaism.  Before doing this, we researched what happens in our own religion.  Here is an example of our homework.

School News

How exciting were all those announcements made in assembly today?

I am really looking forward to running the auditions for 'Wigton's Got Talent - III' after the holidays and seeing all the performers.  I really hope that there will be lots of entries from pupils in 5H!

I wonder who we will have to judge the finals this year.  Who do you think will make a good judge?

The January edition of the school newsletter is now available.  Click here to read all about the important things that Mrs Norton has to say.  Don't forget to remind your parents to look too.

Hummingbird Recipe Competition

I have just been to the Hummingbird Kitchen to drop off a couple of entries.  A little bird tells me that they haven't had many.  Remember the closing date is Monday, so if you want a chance to win the fantastic prize make sure that you get your entry in before then!

Our science Topic

This term our science topic is Earth, Sun and Moon.  We have been finding out about why we have night and day and different seasons.

First of all we recorded the facts we already knew.
Mrs van Heel was really impressed with our knowledge.

Next, we looked at why we have night and day.
A virtual experiment on the interactive white board illustrated how the Earth
spins on its axis around the sun.

We learned about seasons in the Northern Hemisphere

Steel Pans

Wow, how exciting, a class blog!  I can't think of a better way to introduce our wonderful class than to report on the amazing 'Steel Pan' workshop we had last Friday.  Here are a few photographs to remind you of the fun you had.
